Today I want to remind you to use
caution in pressuring yourself to be done in a specific length of time with your
dissertation. There are so many unforeseen delays and waiting times outside
your control that you can add huge amounts of unnecessary stress to an already
difficult project. The important thing is to do your part: work on your paper
every day, listen to your mentors, and seek help when you need it. I am a big
proponent of goal setting, but I also encourage flexibility and realism, you
cannot control other people. Have some ways to relieve stress, whether through
hobbies, mediation, exercise, or whatever works for you. You want to get
through this experience in a reasonable time- yes, but also in good physical
and mental health!
Next time, we will
consider taking a break. Do you have an issue or a question that you would like
me to discuss in a future post? Would you like to be a guest writer? Send me
your ideas! leann.stadtlander@waldenu.edu
