Reflection

A habit of reflecting on the present and recent past can have a powerful effect on how you see and cope with the present and the future.  Questions to ask yourself regularly include:

What did I do related to my dissertation today?  This week?
What went well with my dissertation today?  This week?
What did I enjoy?
When did I feel my best?
What did not go so well, why?
How can I avoid that, change it, think about it differently?
What can I do to get more positives into my feelings of my dissertation and fewer negatives?

To get even more from these reflection questions, write your responses in your research journal.  This gives you the opportunity to go back over time, and look at how things have changed and monitor your growth and development.

Next time, I will post an updated blog index. Do you have an issue or a question that you would like me to discuss in a future post? Send me an email with your ideas. leann.stadtlander@waldenu.edu
