Mid-quarter evaluation

Today starts week 6 of our first 11 week quarter. I would like you to take a moment and dig out your goals for the quarter. How are you doing? If you are on target, then give yourself a pat on the back – good job!

What if you are not meeting your goals? Let’s take a moment to reflect on that – why do you think that you are not reaching them? How far off are you? Is it possible to put in an extra day or so and catch up? If not, contact your chair and discuss the situation NOW! Perhaps you can readjust your goals or edit them, but keep your chair informed of your progress and ask for their input. Do not wait until the last week of the quarter to let him or her know you are not meeting the goals.

Show responsibility and commitment to your dissertation, it will make a big difference with your chair and committee.

Next time I will discuss how to talk to your chair. Do you have an issue or a question that you would like me to discuss in a future post? Would you like to be a guest writer? Send me your ideas! leann.stadtlander@waldenu.edu
